Men's Health Week 2016 cont. - mindfulness and men
There is a great deal of evidence that mindfulness is of great benefit to men’s health. There are also some very useful practices men can use to get started (see our latest Blog post here). However, mindfulness can be easily dismissed as a woman’s activity. How can you convince your beloved partner, husband, boyfriend, uncle, father, grandfather, brother … to participate and benefit from mindfulness?
The following points may help:
Great sporting teams use it, such as the Australian cricket team, NBA championship teams the LA Lakers and the ,Chicago Bulls etc.
Mindfulness is part of innate hunting behaviour.
It improves work performance and general health.
It can protect against developing addictions as well as enhancing the ability to handle stress well.
It decreases the risk of getting colds and flu and keeps the blood pressure down.
It can also help you to be a better communicator and a better lover and let’s face it that’s not a bad thing for most blokes!
