This writing exercise suggested by Business Insider is interesting. It helps you to better cope with your negative emotions by becoming more aware of them (see the video here).

Similarly, the Mindfulness Check In approach can also help you become more aware of your thoughts/ emotions, which allows you to better transition between situation.
